Up to eight adults have been displaced from their rooming house Thursday after unattended food cooking on a stove caught fire.
Ottawa Fire Services responded to 2084 Kingsley Rd. shortly before 1 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from the basement.
The fire was quickly brought under control. There were no injuries, although two people were assessed for minor smoke inhalation.
The fire service said there was smoke damage throughout the home and damages were estimated at $40,000.
