Two Gatineau men appeared in court Tuesday on charges of production and possession of cannabis for the purposes of trafficking following a raid on a grow-op Monday that resulted in the seizure of 460 plants.

Charged were Dany Vaillancourt, 33, and Denis Brousseau, 47, both of whom were already known to police. Vaillancourt is alleged to be the head of the drug network.

Also found at the Val-des-Monts site was Vaillancourt’s three-year-old son. The boy was taken by childrens’s welfare.

Following the grow-op raid, a raid at Vaillancourt’s apartment at 83 de Sillery St. in Gatineau allegedly uncovered 120 grams of cocaine and $2,700.00 in cash.

Police opposed release of the pair at trial because the duo are awaiting trial on similar charges in Val-des-Monts from April 2013.
