Police in Gatineau have seized 981 marijuana plants with a value they estimate at nearly $1 million from the home of a man with no known links to crime.

The raid Tuesday night at 28 Glenholm St. in an older section of Aylmer also turned up growing equipment worth $60,000, and a small amount of packaged marijuana.

Police said they had never heard of the man before, and had no previous contact with anyone at the home.

They went to the house after receiving a tip that it was a grow-op.

Police said he will appear in court to be formally charged with trafficking at a later date, at which point the court will release his name.
