Two women fall through ice at Dows Lake
Posted on 2/8/2015 5:26:00 PM by Jenn Pritchard
A quick thinking good Samaritan is getting praise for helping two women who had fallen through the ice on the canal on Sunday afternoon.
According to Paramedics, the women were skating in an out of bounds area near Dows Lake around 3:30 p.m. when they fell through the ice, waist deep in the frigid water.
One woman was able to pull herself out of the hole in the ice but the second woman was stuck.
Witnesses said that Cory Legue was plowing the canal when he saw the women go through the ice.
He hopped off the plow and went over to help, even getting into the water himself to help free the woman who was stuck.
When paramedics arrived the two women were out of the water.
They were taken to the 5th Avenue first aid tent to be assessed by paramedics but they were not taken to hospital.
