Shortly after 4:45 a.m. Monday, Ottawa fire received a call about smoke coming from a detached bungalow on 7 Pretty Street in Stittsville.
By the time firefighters arrived on scene, flames were visible and two residents were outside the smoky home.
Ottawa fire said crews began an “interior fire attack” and had a handle on the blaze by just before 5:30 a.m.
While the home’s residents managed to get out, a cat was trapped within the bungalow.
The feline was rescued and there were no reported injuries, Ottawa fire said.
Two people will be displaced and there is no current estimate on damages.
