Gatineau police have arrested two men in connection with some 30 automobile break-ins overnight Wednesday to Thursday.

At about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a car break-in on Chambord Street, north of Highway 50.

When they arrived, they arrested a 19-year-old man from Gatineau.

A second suspect, later found to be a 22-year-old Cantley man, fled by car.

Police tracked down the getaway vehicle abandoned. It was full of items such as electronics apparently stolen in other break-ins. They tracked down the second suspect and arrested him later Thursday.

The men will face charges of breaking and entering, possession of stolen property and breach of bail. They were to appear in court Friday.

Police encourage people who might have been hit during the break-in spree to file a report and remind motorists to be careful about leaving valuables in plain sight inside of vehicles.
