An Ottawa man was to appear in Gatineau court Friday after a car chase Thursday that resulted in a crash, followed by the arrest of the suspect after a foot chase.
Police also seized some 3,000 prescription pills in the suspect’s truck.
Gatineau police say the incident began at about 10 a.m. when a pickup truck was spotted doing 85 km/h in a 50 km/h zone past a speed check on Boulevard Saint-Raymond near Boulevard des Trembles.
The suspect took off and tried to elude police by squeezing between two vehicles at a red light at Boulevard Alexandre-Taché. The vehicles were damaged, one of them seriously, but there were no injuries.
The suspect then fled on foot, but police captured a short time later. Police say they discovered the pills when they returned to the suspect’s truck.
The suspect faces a variety of charges including possesseion of stolen goods, dangerous driving and trafficking.
He was also hit with five traffic citations with fines totalling $2,871 and 19 demerit points.
