A coroner’s inquest will be held into the death of a worker killed in April 2014 while working on the renovations of the Bank of Canada building at Bank and Sparks streets.

Marc Nelson, 44, a married father of two, was a well known musician in the Ottawa area. He died April 21, 2014, when he was struck on the head by debris at the construction site.

The inquest, announced Thursday by Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, the supervising coroner for Eastern Ontario, is mandatory under the Coroner’s Act. Jurors will try to determine the circumstances of Nelson’s death and may offer recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.

A date and location for the inquest will be announced later, the coroner’s office said.
