A Val-des-Monts-area man had to wait an hour for rescue after being pinned under a one-ton concrete block while working on his house Sunday.
The 53-year-old suffered injuries to his lower back and left leg, but remained conscious throughout the ordeal, according to police with the the MRC des Collines de l’Outaouais.
The man was working on his house in the St-Pierre area of Val-des-Mont about 3:30 p.m. when he was somehow pinned beneath a concrete block, described as weighing about 2,000 pounds, or 907 kilograms.
Police said the man was trapped for about an hour before his wife found him. A family member was able to use a back hoe to lift the block and free him.
He was then taken to hospital in Hull for treatment. Police said he injuries weren’t life-threatening.
