Guelph police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the death early Sunday of Grace Glofcheskie, the Arnprior native who was struck by a stolen SUV that had fled from an OPP RIDE checkpoint.
The man was arrested Tuesday morning at a Guelph motel, a day after Guelph police made a public plea for information on the case.
The man, whose identity was not released, faces charges of dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, flight from police causing death, possession of stolen property, break and enter, possession of stolen property over $5,000 as well as breach of probation.
Glofcheskie, 24, died when she was struck near her home in Guelph by a stolen Ford Escape at about 2:30 a.m. after she had finished walking a friend home. The driver of the SUV had just fled from a Wellington County OPP RIDE checkpoint a little over a kilometre away in downtown Guelph.
Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating the death because of the involvement of police.
