Firefighters rescued several residents, many suffering injuries, from a fire being battled early Sunday morning in a row of townhomes and stacked condos in Orléans.
Smoke and flames were visible from 3275 St. Joseph Blvd when the fire began at about 7:30 a.m., with many callers reporting the blaze to emergency services. The fire was upgraded to a three-alarm fire just after 8 a.m.

At least one firefighter and multiple victims were reported, though the extent of their injuries and how many were hurt was not immediately clear. They were being treated at the scene by paramedics.
Police are asking all motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
