It started with a simple traffic stop. Then officers from the Sûreté du Québec looked inside the car.
They had pulled over a driver Monday on Highway 321 in St-André-Avellin for a traffic offense, and there was no way for the two people in the car to disguise the contents: 12 kilograms of marijuana.
It probably didn’t help that the occupants — a man, 47, and woman, 25 — were in a category generally called “known to police.”
Both now face charges of possession of the drug for the purpose of trafficking.
St-André-Avellin is about an hour east of Ottawa, near Papineauville.
