要真这样，看来得搬家了。难怪阿尔伯塔的人说安省人的脑子不太好使。要真是自由党当选，又够他们乐一阵子了。

Why? Is the Alberta Alliance that much better? Or the Alberta New Democratic for that matter? No matter who's in power, as long as they can get right down to business and improve the quality of life, they'll get my vote.

I prefer Consertative party, I have a better impresson on the current premier and the last premier (Harris).
When will they have a TV-show debate ?

Agree. Mike Harris reduced social walfare by 20% and immediately a lot people went out and found jobs. NDP and Liberal would not have done that. If too much people live on welfare, where does that put us - the hardworking tax payer. Liberal and NDP always count on getting votes from the poor people. But the thing is, if the government always encourage policies that gives poor people more without them making an effort to "earn" it, they are encouraging people to get lazy. Is that the right way to run a country / province? Or should the government introduce policies that encourages people to make more, earn more and therefore make the whole country/province better off.

USA didn't become the world's largest country by giving welfare. Japan did not become one of the worlds richest by allowing workers to go on strike forever.

Liberal has been in power in Federal for so long, look at where Canada is in the world? Are we still the best contry to live in? Not any more. We've lost that gold crown three years ago. Why?

安省政坛的十字路口

（星星生活特稿 作者余若扬）经过数度推迟，早该在今年春天举行的安省省选，终于在本周二由保守党政府宣布；经过未来数周的紧张鏖战、短兵相接，到10月2日，人们就能够了解，自由党是否有机会入主Queen's Park，成为安省下届执政党。

作为已经执政八年的安省保守党，他们的优越处在于以往的“常理革命”，整顿了安省的财务状态，使安省八年前的债台高筑、经济疲软的情况有了明显改善；保守党在1999年的省选中再次获胜，可以看做是省民对该党执政的赞同。

但是，如今已经过去八年了，保守党在省府也已经连任两届，人们对这个党是否还具有足够的新鲜活力来带领省民继续往前走，开始有了疑问。保守党对此也是清楚的，他们在这次竞选中，就提出了旗帜颇为鲜明的党纲，其中三大政策，一是给老年居民所付的物业税退税，给付房屋贷款的纳税人减税，和禁止教师在学年期间罢工。这三大政策取向明确，显现保守党的风采，或许对其竞选连任，有所助益。

保守党照理说有两大对手，自由党和新民主党，目前三党在立法机构中的席位分别是保守党56席，自由党36席，和新民主党9席，因此保守党将新民主党的威胁忽略不计，专攻自由党。

自由党作为主要反对党，抓住保守党执政八年这一事实，指其已经倦勤和玩世不恭；自由党的党纲是不减税，而把纳税人的金钱用到教育、医疗、环保等重要方面。他们称自己的纲领是将公民的安全、清洁的水和空气，以及食品的卫生检查，都放在最重要的地位，而不是象保守党政府那样，为了节省金钱，拿这些基本的东西来赌博。

新民主党虽然有边缘化的危险，但也绝非无所作为；该党党魁汉普顿近日已经开始其渥克顿之行，以揭保守党的短处；渥克顿数年前因为水源被污染，造成7人死亡，2300多人染病，轰动全加拿大；反对党据此指责保守党政府的节支政策，夺去人命。

竞选自然是在人和人之间进行。自由党党魁麦昆第，律师出身，48岁，年富力强，他被对方视为主要对头，依夫斯在宣布竞选的讲话中，多次提到他的名字，痛陈其缺乏领导经验，依夫斯并表示，省长这一工作，并非可以“干中学”的。

事实上，上届省选开始时，自由党在民调中处于领先地位，但是竞选结果，民调中处于劣势的保守党却大获全胜，给自由党党魁麦昆第造成颇大的打击，党内曾经有过要求他下台的呼声；人们说，麦氏缺乏领袖人物的风采和魅力，是自由党失利的主要原因。目前，自由党在民调中又领先15个百分点，老麦能否把住机会，取得胜利？让我们拭目以待吧。
