Ottawa Fire Services responded to a call at a highrise on Clearview Avenue around 12:21 p.m. Wednesday to find heavy smoke billowing from a unit on the building’s 11th floor.
According to firefighters, 911 callers had pulled the fire alarm and residents were evacuating when the first crews arrived on scene.
Smoke was visible from outside of the building. When firefighters got to the 11th floor crews reported heavy smoke and started working to restrict the spread of the fire to adjacent units. The fire was brought under control at 12:50 p.m.
There were no confirmed injuries as a result of the blaze. An Ottawa Fire Services’ investigator was on scene. Firefighters were also at the building in order to ventilate the structure and help residents return to their units.
