The quick response by Ottawa fire crews saved a home at 2058 Blossom Dr. in Alta Vista Tuesday morning.
According to firefighting officials, 911 calls were placed around 7 a.m. reporting thick black smoke at the address.
Crews launched an attack on the fire, and managed to knock it down quickly. No injuries were incurred.
However, the fire did spread into the home’s attic which required crews to remain to the scene longer to ensure the blaze had been extinguished.
Assistance workers from the Red Cross and the Salvation Army were on scene to help the residents.
The cause for the fire is still under investigation. There was no immediate estimate of damages.
