Gatineau police have opened a criminal investigation and made one arrest and after an apartment building fire that drew both Ottawa and Gatineau fire crews on Thursday.
Details are still unclear, with police saying only that “certain elements lead us to believe that the fire could be of criminal origin.” The name of the person arrested was not immediately available.
The fire in Cité-des-Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau’s Hull sector began in the top storey of a four-storey apartment building and spread. Ottawa sent six trucks with crews under a mutual-assistance agreement.
The fire closed down Cité-des-Jeunes between Riel Boulevard and Talbot Street.
