The man arrested in connection with the slaying of a 41-year-old woman near Alfred on Thursday has been charged with first-degree murder, said Ontario Provincial Police.
Daniel Lalonde, 61, was arraigned on the charges Friday afternoon in court in l’Orignal, Ont., about 100 kilometres east of Ottawa.
Police also identified the homicide victim as Jacqueline Rouleau, 41, of Hawkesbury. Police believe the killing is drug-related, and not the result of domestic violence.
Lalonde was arrested Thursday night at a restaurant in Hawkesbury, about six hours after police were called to a rural home on Conc. 5, just outside Alfred. It was there that they found Rouleau’s body.
More to come.
