The driver of a pickup truck is facing charges relating to impaired driving after his 36-year-old passenger died in a single-vehicle crash southwest of Pembroke on Saturday night.
Jamie Hubert, a resident of Bonnechere Valley, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Dore Bay Road between Pembroke and Golden Lake.
The crash was reported at about 11:20 p.m. Saturday, and an initial investigation indicated that the 2000 Mazda pickup was southbound on Dore Bay when it left the road and entered a ditch. Two fire departments and Renfrew paramedics attended the scene.
The driver of the pickup, Scott Hubert, 47, a resident of Horton Township, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He faces charges related to impaired driving, and also faces charges of failing or refusing to provide a sample.
Hubert was released and is to appear in court in Pembroke on Dec. 20. The OPP investigation continues.
