An Ottawa police “John sweep” in Vanier swept up seven men. One of them will be charged.
Six of the men picked up on or near Montreal Road on Wednesday and Thursday qualified for John School, a way of avoiding criminal charges, and chose to participate in that.
The seventh will face one prostitution-related charge and one charge of breach of recognizance.
Five of the seven men were from Quebec.
Police say they often get complaints from pedestrians who are hassled by men looking for prostitutes in Vanier, and it’s a safety problem.
