Ottawa firefighters have called a second alarm for a fire at an upholstery store and other businesses in an Orléans strip mall Saturday.

Alarms were sounded just before 1 p.m. as heavy smoke was spotted pouring from the mall on St. Joseph Boulevard near Grey Nuns Drive.

Several buildings were fully involved in fire, and the first wave of firefighters were advised not to enter the buildings.

Responders concentrated on attacking the flames on the rooftop and a second alarm was called to summon more personnel and equipment.

There were no injuries reported.
