Gatineau police closed half of the intersection of Gréber Boulevard and Jacques Cartier Street Thursday morning as they continue the investigation into a fatal hit-and-run accident Saturday.
A woman in her late 60s died after she was struck by a driver who left the scene.
Police said a minibus of the type used to carry handicapped passengers turned left from Jacques Cartier onto Gréber, hitting the woman. The accident happened a little before 2 p.m. Saturday.
Investigators were taking measurements and also examining the timing of the cycle of traffic lights.
Police also had their mobile command post on site and were urging potential witnesses to visit and provide information.
Westbound traffic through the intersection and across the Lady Aberdeen Bridge, which crosses the Gatineau River, was closed. They reopened before 2 p.m.
Police say they will not release the victim’s identity at the family’s request.
