Ottawa Fire Services is asking motorists to avoid Stagecoach Road near Blanchfield Road and Osgoode Main Street as crews tackle a blaze in a farmhouse.

They were called to 3320 Stagecoach Road and declared a working fire at 8:44 a.m. before even arriving at the two-storey home based on information from 911 callers.

The occupants were safely removed from the home after the fire, which began in the home’s basement.

An hour after being called to the farmhouse, firefighters were still doing a “defensive” attack, fighting the flames from outside the building.

One occupant was assessed by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
