Ottawa is finally coming out of the deep freeze.
There’s nary a special weather statement or frostbite warning in sight and watch for above-zero temperatures by the weekend.
Tuesday’s forecast is for a high of -12 C and periods of light snow totaling 2 cm, a 40 per cent chance of evening flurries and a low of -15 C.
First impressions of Ottawa: it is really friggin’ cold here and everyone is wearing a ski mask… however, there is a dedicated scone shop and I am contemplating setting out in search of something unassumingly called a “butter tart.”

For Wednesday, expect clouds to clear in the afternoon with a high of -8 C and a low of -14 C.
Thursday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, a high of -5 C and a low of -8 C.
Friday’s forecast features a mix of sun and cloud, a high of -1 C and a low of -4 C.
Then it’s a string of mild – if grey – days.
Saturday is cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, a high of 1 C and a low of -2 C.
Sunday is expected to be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers or flurries and a high of 2 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow overnight and a low of 1 C.
Monday’s forecast is for more clouds, a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow and a high of 2 C.
