A 23-year-old Ottawa man was charged with numerous firearms-related offences after an incident on the patio of a Montreal Road establishment Friday night.

An intoxicated male pointed a sawed-off shotgun at two people during a disturbance at about 10:50 p.m. in area near Lafontaine Avenue, Ottawa police said in a news release. Police said they were called after he left the patio, and that patrol officers immediately located him and placed him under arrest without incident. The discarded shotgun was also located, police said.

Nicholas Lalonde has been charged with careless use of a firearm, two counts of pointing a firearm, obstruction of police and breach of probation.

Anyone who witnessed the incident was asked to contact the guns and gangs unit at (613) 236-1222, ext. 5050. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS) or by downloading the Ottawa police app.
