A fire at a five-storey commercial building on Sparks Street fire also forced the closure of Metcalfe Street between Queen and Wellington streets on Thursday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services reported that the fire in the roof of 95 Sparks St. had gone to a second alarm, but no injuries were reported and the fire was declared under control at about 3:15 p.m.
An investigator was called to the scene and the blaze remained under investigation, a fire services media release said.
Photos from witnesses suggested that the fire scene was a building under renovation.
