A 30-year-old Ottawa man was arrested after OPP tactical officers raided a Port Hope motel room, seizing cocaine, opioids and a loaded nine-millimetre handgun.
Officers with the Peterborough and Northumberland street crime unit and the force’s emergency response team and tactics and rescue unit executed the search warrant March 30.
Along with the Smith & Wesson-made handgun, police said they found cash and illegal drugs in the search on Highway 2 in the municipality about 300 kilometres southwest of Ottawa.
Brooks Earnest Pitre-Lanys, 30, was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of cocaine and opioids for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, breach of firearms regulation, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm or ammunition and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
