Frontenac OPP has identified the pedestrian who died in an apparent hit-and-run on Highway 401 in Kingston as 59-year-old Charles Thistlethwaite.
The Kingston man was pronounced dead at the scene of the April 13 crash of injuries that were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, although no vehicle remained at the scene, police said Tuesday.
Police believe it was Thistlethwaite who was seen walking westbound on the paved shoulder of the westbound lane of Highway 401, about a kilometre west of Gardiners Road, around 12:30 a.m. Police responded to a report of a pedestrian who’d been struck around 1 a.m.
