The fire department has asked motorists to avoid Prince of Wales Drive near Colonnade Road Wednesday afternoon as they battled a house fire.
They were summoned by reports of heavy black smoke and flames coming from the roof and attic of the house at about 2:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they confirmed a second-alarm fire was burning at the residence in the 1900 block of Prince of Wales Drive, near Fisher Avenue.
Occupants and pets were safely evacuated, said the fire department.
Motorists were asked to avoid Prince of Wales between Colonnade and Fisher.
