A 57-year-old woman who drove off a dock in Rideau Lakes Township last Friday night has died, says Ontario Provincial Police.
Police said Wendy Holmes, from Rideau Lakes Township, had been in hospital since the crash, but was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.
Late on Friday night, police received a call that a car had driven into Upper Rideau Lake, and found Holmes in her car about 50 metres offshore. According to the OPP, an officer and a volunteer firefighter got her out of her then-submerged vehicle, and were able to revive her and get her to a hospital in Kingston, where she was in critical condition.
The OPP still do not know why Holmes drove into the lake, but say alcohol was a factor. The investigation is still ongoing.
