A strike by CUASA, representing professors, instructors and
professional librarians, is a possibility.
The Union has set a strike deadline of Monday, October 20, 2003.
Talks between the Carleton University administration and CUASA
are scheduled for October 18 and 19 and the University is
hopeful that a settlement can be reached and a strike averted.
Nonetheless, a strike is a possibility and the University
administration has developed contingency plans in an effort
to minimize the impact of a labour disruption on students.
Our priority is to protect your interests and ensure
that you are able to complete your courses.
IN THE EVENT OF A STRIKE:
* Some classes will be held during a strike. Information
on classes and the impact of a strike on services will
be posted on the Carleton University
Web site http://www.carleton.ca.
* The Library, Residences and Food Services and all
administrative and student service offices will
continue to operate as usual.
* There will be picket lines at the entrances to campus
during a strike. Please be patient when crossing the line
and expect some delays getting to campus.
* OC Transpo buses will not cross the picket lines but will
drop passengers on Bronson Avenue.
* The O Train will continue to provide regular service
to campus.
