Today our community is faced with a new challenge. As many may have heard, ClubLink has announced their intention to pursue options for the development of the Kanata Golf & Country Club lands. This news is as shocking to me as I’m sure it is to you and everyone in our community.
Kanata North was built around this golf course in 1968 and was part of Bill Teron’s vision when he planned our community fifty years ago. The Kanata Lakes community sprouted up around it. Many in our community live along the 18 holes and have enjoyed this greenspace for many years.
I want our community to know that I have been working with city staff and ready to work with the community to do everything I can to preserve this greenspace. I am aware of an existing agreement that requires 40 percent greenspace to remain in Kanata Lakes, and city staff are reviewing this agreement currently.
Immediate next steps:
- I will be available in my office at the Mlacak Arena tomorrow, December 15th, from 9 am to 12 pm as well as Sunday, December 16th, from 1 pm to 3 pm. Outside of those times I will be knocking on doors of homes abutting the golf course and am looking to hear your input and concerns. I will reach every house in the next few days.
- I will share email updates as well as updates on my website and social media as I have them.
Please don't hesitate to reach out by email
Jenna.Sudds@Ottawa.ca or by phone (613) 580-2474. I'd welcome your input and look forward to working together on this.
Sincerely,
Jenna Sudds
City Councillor Kanata North
