Make a Difference Newsletter – November 12, 2019
Hello to all of you, our valued subscribers-
At the outset, I would like to thank the 650 or so residents who came out to our STOP CLUBLINK Community Meeting at Earl of March on November 5 and the more than 500 who have watched the video online since.
All of the presentations made that evening are captured and saved in
a video on our Facebook page.
There was very good information shared by the experts thatthe KGPC has retained on your behalf –
Dennis Jacobs, a Principal and Planner with Momentum Planning and
Alyssa Tompkins, a Legal Partner with the law firm CazaSaikaley.
Time is of the essence for our community since the ClubLink announcement in October. We have been very busy at the KGPC and continue to work diligently on your behalf.
I write you today because there are things that only you can do.
Three things we need you to do today!
1. Make a Donation … it is critical!
At the November 5 meeting we unveiled our
Make a Difference campaign. The
KGPC needs $185,000 to engage the best experts we can to help our community protect, preserve and provide access to our green and open spaces and
STOP CLUBLINK in the process. We just passed the $75,000 point! Thank you!
Please read the
anticipated financial impact of the ClubLink proposal to your home and property as viewed by the top realtors in Kanata.
These slides on our website explain
our fundraising goals for and
how your donation can help us get there.
You can still
donate by cheque or to our GoFundMe campaign online if you prefer. All donation instructions can be found there
Donate and Make a Difference today!
2. Write to the City and oppose the ClubLink proposal!
All residents of Kanata need to email a letter to City of Ottawa Planning Department at kanatalakes@ottawa.ca by the deadline of November 22 to object to this redevelopment application.
The
ClubLink application and all supporting documents can be found on the City of Ottawa Planning department website.
Your letter can
- Be short and to the point. Bullet format is acceptable
- Be personal. Explain why you chose to live in Kanata North and why this application offends you
- Provide detailed impact of the application on your specific property and the impact of this proposal overall in key areas such as loss to the environment
The recommendations of our expert planner as to what you might include and also what you ought avoid in your letter is posted on our website under the
Write to the City tab.
The KGPC will be making a written submission to the City before this deadline. We will publish our letter on our website in the next 10 days.
3. Mark your Calendar… January 29, 2020 is the Night…
