I just went to COSCO today. I saw this 42" projection HDTV, AKAI brand, for only $1499.99.

Is it a good deal? Anyone heard about the brand or its TV?

CRT成像的背投正在被淘汰，这种方式的背投自打出来就是个垃圾！

Did you see the Panasonic 36" beside it? Same price, $1499.99 is that a fare deal then?

Didn't pay attention to the Panasonic. There was a Sony HD-ready 36" flat pannel TV (crt not rear projection) with memory stick slot and stand for only 1999. I thought that was an amazing deal.

A friend of mine bought an Epson HD front projector with screen, paid only $5700. Viewing area is 2.1 sq.m, and the colors are surprisingly vivid.

My only 2 doubts about front projectors are:
-noise from the fan
-life and cost of replacing lamp

背投没有问题。
看看今年在futureshop新上市LCD方式的背投，就知道原来的CRT背投有多烂。
DLP方式的背投也很不错。
这两种都以每年1000元的速度降价。

Which is better? I will take one of them.

当然是东芝。东芝在背投里是领先的。好像东芝CRT背投的灯寿命最长？（？记不清了）
虽然Samsung进步很快，但质量和一些细节上离一流还有距离。
