If you are not the owner of that vehicle, and as a friend of the owner you "temporarily" drove that vehicle for a short while, you may have chance to be waived from the charge because this kind of temporary driving could be insured by the owner's insurance. However, you have to study on relevant ontario insurance policies and laws. (I'm not really sure the above rule, but got some info from my former studying on insurance policies.)
But, if you are the owner, you have to find some reasonable proofs to convince the court.
