2. Easy and always available shower. Water has to be heated for 30 minutes before barely enough hot water is ready for shower. People still only have shower once a week and people smells.

在学校里认识了不少在读的硕士生、博士生，其中很多人都是留学生。

从其他国家来留学的，都说不习惯加拿大的文化，想读完书后回国，即使是来自俄罗斯这样的贫穷落后国家的留学生也这样说！他们不在乎回国后钱挣得少，因为他们热爱自己的祖国！

而从中国来留学的，也说不习惯加拿大的文化，但却希望千方百计能在读完书后留下来。理由是：怕回国后成为ＣＣＰ“改革”的牺牲对象，看看现在的下岗工人的命运。。。

这就是中国人与外国人在思想境界上的区别。中国人比较低

实在是不想说你, 你写的这玩意也真是找骂. 众所周知, 中国政府是个什么玩意儿? 对自己的人民怎么样? 大多数中国人民生活的好么? 对海外华人照顾么? 大使馆怎么样? 护照好使么? 国内问题多么? ... 如果中国哪怕好那么一点, 出来的人还会多么?

谈不上境界.个人好恶..只是我很讨厌在归于不归的问题上对中国的片面评价.问题任何国家都有,特别是政治,在哪个国家都是龌龊的.任何当权的在野党会想要真正民主吗? 不太可能,权力本身就是民主的对立面.不要被国王的新衣蒙蔽,中国也总是往好的方向发展的.

当权的叫在朝党，台下的叫在野党，brother!

说实话,虽然我来的时间不长,但是这里的生活条件跟北京比除了人的素质要明显好(这是不争的事实,面对缺点才能进步吧)外就是空气质量了,但是那边也有很多这边无法比拟的东西.总的来说,在物质生活已经几乎没有差距的今天(在我看来日常的物质生活Ottawa是比不上国内很多大城市的),回国对于我们来说已经不象10年甚至5年前那样难以抉择了.

先生您此地只花不赚且靠不了爹妈当然日子紧巴啦！

no wonder you have those opinions. A man who had indoor swimming pool in China 20 years ago still lives in an apartment in Ottawa now. How couldn't he feel the cold in his apartment?

Hey man, don't get me wrong. I didn't say that bigger place equals to
better place. I said Qingdao is not a big city. It doesn't hurt that
I still like it.

Ok, per your request, I honestly tell you, I had shower every day
when I was in China, winter and summer, cause I had it installed at
home. I even had more than once each day, cause I was an athlete for
several years. By the way I can also tell you we had indoor swimming
pool and warm water in winter twenty years ago.
And as far as I know, most people around me have shower at home too. Please note that I didn't say each people or most people all over
the country. If you can only have shower once a week when you were
in China, I have to say sorry for you.

Second, my home heating was not bad. May not be better than apartment
here in Ottawa, but definitely better than some houses here.
I admit that right before heating coming and after heating gone, it
was not that good. It is the same in Ottawa though. I also felt cold
in my apartment here before the heating came, especially this year.

Actually there is no point to argue about this details. I don't
want to argue with you. I wouldn't say that China has nothing that
should be improved. Actually I am glad to see she is improving.

You can tell your truth. I have mine. As I said, everybody has
their way of living. Just please don't explain my words in your way
and please don't get me wrong.

好吧,也许我用很多这个词不恰当.不过我确实没把青岛算大城市,大概因为我本身地理就没什么概念.其实国内我主要只在北京呆过,再就是西安,西安吃的比北京好的多,只是住上差一些.

我作比较也主要是拿北京来比的.吃的不说了,没有比的必要.住的话,我个人感觉没有什么差别,北京住的贵些(租房子便宜买房子贵),但是舒适程度没区别,天气不说了,这边空气比北京好很多,但是冷的我无话可说,以后我寒假一定回国的,去年去cuba玩没回去.
其他方面比较的话交通上北京比较差,不过主要原因在于老城的布局,所以路口太多,而且3环内既是downtown又是居民区所以拥挤.但是总的来说基本生活质量至少我看来这边差一些,主要是吃的.......

而且虽然这边的人很有礼貌,但是每次看到厕所里骂中国人的脏话我就提醒自己这里毕竟不是自己的国家.


最后,无论如何我不认为这边的冬天舒适,大概因为我极度讨厌寒冷,我也不喜欢一天到晚闷在屋子里边,一年近6个月的冬天实在太恐怖了.

Oh, Really ? Can you elaberate ? I went back to Qingdao this winter, to my surprise, they still can't solve 2 most important quality of life issues in Winter:

1. Constant and self-controlled room temperature. Heating is provided centally, and varys from 15c to 21c in a day. Sometimes heating stoped for hours. I was sick from the first week to the last.

2. Easy and always available shower. Water has to be heated for 30 minutes before barely enough hot water is ready for shower. People still only have shower once a week and people smells.

And I am talking about my parent's 600,000 yuans apartment built in 2002.

I will not go back to China in winter again, winter in Canada is much much more comfortable.

北京四季都有热水,热水器.....没等过,开了几本几秒后就是热水了

其实是青岛的top多少不重要,热水这东西不分人也不分房子,这个城市没有大家都没有

当然要是有钱可以自己弄个暖气系统之类

You have the Chinese mentality of equaling bigger place to better place, this is not true in North America.

That said, 95% of Chinese lived in cities/villages less developed than Qingdao, and my parents are in the top 2% in Qingdao.

Honestly tell me:

1. How often and how easy can you have shower in your "Northern China" winter ? Once week ?

2. How is your home heating ? Especially the month before November 15 and the month after March 1, when there is none ?

无论在北京还是在这里我都没花我父母一分钱(当然说的是本科毕业后)

要说钱多,其实还是来这边后的钱比较多,但是却对自己的生活质量十分不满,当然主要指的是食物,不仅经常要自己做饭,出去吃的食物也很难找到什么好吃的

而且玩的也无法跟原来比. 当然这边也有它好的地方,希望以后会适应些

当然要是有钱可以自己弄个暖气系统之类

基础设施还是这里好的，还有人的平均素质

我在上海的同学出门如果书包中放点稍微重要的东西一般都是背在胸前的，怕被偷。
上海一般家里没暖气，虽然冬天只有0-5度左右，但还是感觉比这里冷，冷暖空调毕竟不是那么普及 （再说太费电）

不过中国很多城市充满了活力，年轻人比较容易发展，加拿大感觉死气沉沉的。

其实说起来香港也没暖气的,没暖气说明气候好呀,这里没暖气就死人了

Funny thing is, it's HongKonger came to Canada, not the other way around.

In 2001, there are 1 million Chinese in Canada. Half of those are from Hong Kong. That didn't count those who went back to Hong Kong with a Canadian passport.

Hong Kong is a city of 6 million people, and half a million now lived in Canada. That's one in 12 !
