What are you here for? Study, right? So buying the books for study is supposed to be part of your responsibility. It doesn't matter at all if you will need to use the books after graduation or not. The cost of the books is part of your cost of tuition. If you cannot afford it, that is your problem. Can you go to a restaurant and say, hey, I am hungry, but i don't have money, give me 80% off! That's crazy, right? So why can the same behaviour be tolerated in educational circumstance?
Let me ask you one more question. Suppose you find a job after graduation, can the employer pay you the same salary as that of the same position in China? I bet you will say, NOO! This is in Canada, I deserve more!
That's right, you deserve more. What I want you to know is, in north America, books deserve more too! They are much more expensive than in China partially because the copyright is way well protected here than in China. You cannot compare the book price in Canada with that in China at all. You should know it before you came to Canada.
I am studying in OU too. I know many students are copying books and at the same time they use high speed internet, they buy $100 skating blade, somebody have a car, somebody even buy parking permit on the campus for more than $100 per month. Are they poor? Are they really not be able to afford books?! I DO NOT THINK SO!
The only reason why you guys copy is TO SAVE MONEY IN AN ILLEGAL WAY! Don't make excuses of poverty, difficulties in resale. You are a MBA student, right? How can you not understand the concept of "Legal Environment"? How can you not understand the concept of "copyright"?
How can you not understand the concept of "cost behaviour"?
It is you guys that is doing robbery, stealing, not the university!
