I graduated from management too, and I absolutely agree with you in saying that the management books change editions very frequently. I spent anywhere between $400 to $500 per semester during my university years. However as someone said earlier, part of the reason that these textbooks are so expensive is because of copyright. Also if you are a management student, you'd understand the "magic" of supply and demande: too little demande compared to the pocket-sized best-sellers. Publishers don't make much profits printing textbooks either. For those students who spend hundreds of dollars on designer cloths, cell-phones, travel and don't want to pay a fair price for a textbook, I despise them! They are a shame to their parents, not to China. For those students who struggle to survive in a foreign country, you have my compassion. As many already said, try to share a book with fellow students, buy second-hand, and if all failed, then copy the books, be my guest, you've got to survive! But bear in mind that copying is WRONG, no question about it, we all know it, otherwise there would not be a fierce discussion here. I copied before, but I knew it was wrong and I wasn't proud of myself. Canada is a very generous country, don't take it for granted.

Everybody makes mistakes sometime.
Everybody lies sometime.
Everybody should stand out sometime.

Law is made by certain politicians whom only sometime represent majority civilians. Think about that.

Photocopying textbooks is not right, but hi, it's OK. Consider some people bring company's milk back home.

You Know what, guys, PEACE.

What is copy?

A copy is a reproduction of all or part of a work made in any of the following ways:

Photocopying
"smartcopies" made by a Docutech or similar machine
xerography
stencil duplication
microfilm
microfiche
typing
transcribing by hand
drawing or gracing
digital transmission (for interlibrary loans only)
fax transmission

What's covered by copyright?

Copyright applies to all original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works. Each of these general categories covers a wide range of creations. Here are just a few examples:

literary works: books, pamphlets, poems and other works consisting of text and computer programs;
dramatic works: films, videos, plays, screenplays and scripts;
musical works: compositions that consist of both words and music or music only (note that lyrics without music fall into the literary works category);
artistic works: paintings, drawings, maps, photographs, sculptures and architectural works.

Fair dealing and exceptions:

The Copyright Act provides that any "fair dealing" with a work for purposes of private study or research, or for criticism, review or news reporting is not infringement.

In addition to fair dealing, the Copyright Act has exceptions for different categories of users. One category is non-profit educational institutions. These are permitted to make copies and perform works and other subject-matter protected by copyright, free of charge, in the classroom, subject to certain restrictions.

有书现成的你不去复印,
真是白当中国人了

又要生活又要读书,钱要被除六,不能穷的穷死富的富死吗!富人(富国)的钱也不见的是正当得来的。

Learn the law first, kid.

Obviously you are misinterpreting your limited knowledge of the law. Go to the law library, do some research before strutting in public. Naive.
