如果你读了请愿书，你会发现法语人士占人口的24%。政府工作的语言歧视主要体现在要求双语的职位，因为这样的职位最后多被法裔拿到。我想归其原因也是英语太容易。我认识的流利双语的人全是第一语言为法语的人，不过我认识的人不多，可能认识会有误。

我赞成双语，但不喜欢政府的technical job要求双语。这分请愿书只是给了很 多的统计数据，并没有涉计到实质。如若雇佣非双语人士在双语工作中，那政府还得雇人翻译。政府化的可是我们的钱。所以大家签以前也要想想。要不最后帐单还是在我们的头上。

“原因也是英语太容易”？别开玩笑了。假如在中国普及汉语和维吾尔语两种语言，那么你认为能流利地使用这两种语言的人当中，会是汉人占多数还是维族人占多数？答案恐怕不言自明吧？

政府这么做无非就是怕魁北克闹独立。依我看，独就独了，政府多余在这里充大头蒜。

露易丝-安娜州也曾经是法语区,美国联邦政府没有什么双语政策,大家相安无事.加拿大倒是有双语,魁北克仍要定期全民公决.给鼻子上眼.

我赞成废除。政府部门可是肥缺呀，工资高、福利好、工作轻松。要求双语我们都没法去那里找工作了。

am sorry that I have to type in English because I am a slow typer.

The reason why I said English is easier is because comparing to French, Italian, English is simpler and less complicated. It's part of the reason so many people can speak English in this world. I am not the one discovered this though .

One reason I don't like this pertition is because it is not consistant. In the beginning, the petitioner want to stop Bilingualism. Then the rest of the data is showing job descriminatrion in public service. It seems to me it is not the problem of Bilingualism, it is the problem that english people can not have job in government. I guess those guys may think Bilingualism is fine if all public service jobs are given to Anglophone(spl?).

Another reason I don't like this petition is I suspect this petition was probably originated from some frustrated job-seeker in Hi-Tech from Ottawa region since they have problem to crack into public service.Those people probably forget that during booming time, government can not find enough qualified workers in ottawa region due to the low payment comparing to private sectors and has to move departmants to Quabec and maritime. It may partially explain why the Francphone take more jobs than English people. If the pertition was started in 1998, I figure it may sound more reasonable than now. It sounds more like whinning than a pertition.

Just my two cents. I could be wrong

Well, you may like or dislike this or any other petition. After reading your two posters, I don't see any consistancy or main schem in your reasons.

Based on your imagination, you spent some time on probing personal initiatives of the petition. It is absolutely normal that there're 1000 reasons to start such topic. However, I think it is ok for individuals seeking their personal interests, the goal of the petition is to voice out a group of people's needs. It is not a poll, or debate. You don't like the petition, you don't sign it. Surely there are "frustrated job-seeker in Hi-Tech from Ottawa region", so what? They deserve it? The government should use billinglism to punish those "whinners"?

You are assuming now.

It does not take much time for anyone who browse the arguments on ott.jobs to figure out why this petition was started. When you asked people to sign this petition, all I did just give my perception. You should let people decide by themself instead of attack different voice. I am sorry if you think the reasons are not consistant. As I said, I could be wrong. Use your own judgement or you will be used.

Bilingualism is just a political BS which the federal government uses to satisfy the Quebec separatists. I know people who works in government only speaking English. If you have connection, you will be able to get job in the government regardless of your language ability (English and/or French.)

One redicular fact is that the strongest billingualism supporters do uni-lingualistic thing. There is no bilingualism in Quebec, just French. This is a really nasty political thing. There are only French in public notice board, street signs, and etc. This make it really unconvinient for tourists who are not supposed to learn French just because they want to go there
