This is true. "Experience in Manitoba is that an R-2000 Home usually costs about three to six per cent more to build than conventional practice. Even based on the claimed 25% saving on energy costs, say 25% of $3000/yr, it's going to take many years to recover the cost of building an R-2000 home. It is also said that R-2000 homes yield higher resale value, but probably not higher than the cost of building such home.
A friend of mine bought a Minto House 3,4 yeas ago, upgrade to R2000 cost extra $14,000 I believe.
