有一点很有意思的地方: 在本次大选前,媒体铺天盖地的都是反Bush的论调,大多数受访民众都坚决反Bush.
但结果却是Bush不仅赢了electoral vote, 还赢了popular vote.
看来大多数美国人选择了用自己的大脑.

But remember the media is biased and therefore, what you hear and
see doesn't represent the truth but the media's preference. On the other side, the most states voting for Bush are in middle and south. People there may not be covered by the media enough. You see those large states like NY, CA, IL all go for Kerry. The conclusion from this election is that no matter who win, people see a deeply divided
USA.

Yes, like any individual person, media is more or less biased, but the majority of the media seem to be anti-Bush.
Keep in mind that those states voted for Bush are mostly the so-called "grassroot" and they define the fundamental value of this country.
Media is actually not that powerful as we thought in a nation that enjoys freedom of speech.

Well, to me, I think American media is also quite anti-Bush. But I agree that Canadian media is extremely so, may be second only to North Korean ( I don't know that though.)

this is the start of the falling of a great country. Especially, when the leader of the country only can resolve conflicts by force and when the people in the country only believe they are the greatest and become so arrogant to look down upon any others in the world.
They lost the chance of a change. An opportunity to reassess the global situation and their true situation, the jeopardy that will destroy themselves. Since Bush was their choice, they have to stick on with his wrong policies for anther four years. The outcome can be very dangerous.
No super power will last forever if you look back of the history of mankind. Whenever the greatest turns the blind eyes toward the outside world and whenever the country only care its own interest and abuse others, and finally whenever their only way of dealing with others is by force, it will destroy the greatest itself no matter how glorious it looks like now.
As experts predicted, the nuclear bomb will be dropped to this land sooner or later. And another truly super power is rising. This will open the new chapter of the history of human being. I am sad for Americans and excited to see the new super power, China to replace USA.

I will be very happy if China rises to the top. Because of all the social problems that exist, I think it will take long time for that to happen. I don't expect to see that in my life time. I hope I am wrong.
I agree with your first part of accessment about the ignorance of many American. But Bush's approval rating on Iraq war is very low, something of 20%? Bush won because of his appeal to the social conservatives who weigh on "moral" values such as abortion and gay marriage over Iraq war and economy. I think churches (Bible belt included of course) played instrumental role for this election . I have a friend who is deep in religion. She said war (Iraq) is good because it creates jobs and money (I guess she meant oil money), among other things (like got rid of Saddam I guess, she didn't go further), and her church urge them to vote for Bush. She is a very nice person by the way, of course believes in no abortion and no gay marriage, etc. Her argument on Iraq war sounded contridct to me, but hey, it is hard argue about religious stuff. Religion is about believing not reasoning.![]()
Then you point another dangerous trend in US, if people vote just for religious believe,or the power of church can control the outcome of the election of a super power country (I believe it does influence this election by the way) then the foundation of this country has changed from equal human right to religion and they will have all the reason to surpress other religions such as Muslim. I guess if US goes like this, they will turn into anther Germany before world war II, where Jews was considered evil religoin people.
