You have to contact with manufacturer, not computer shop after 1 month.
Laptop manufacturers are usauuly big name companies. You can cliam fix or exchange.
I don't think Bestbuy did anything wrong.
The rules are
1) You can get refund within 1-2 weeks in the shop.
2) You can exchange within 1 month in the shop
3) You can claim fix from MANUFACTURER.
4) SHOP has nothing to do with you after 1 month if you didn't buy any extended service plan from shop.
Have you contacted with manufacturer?
Suggestions to you:
1) Don't bother disputing with Bestbuy, BB doesn't have any liability at this stage.
2) Concentrate on "Manufacturer" which is the one you really need to focus on.
3) Collect all the receipt and prove/photo/description of the incident.
4) Claim logically will give you more points to gain your rights. Between manafuctuer and you, you should be a winner. It is just a question how soon manufactuer will fix or exchange for you depending on your warranty details.
5) Don't be panic, do not insult any employee in Bestbuy or Manufactuer. They are also working for boss.
I have been dealing with similar case a lot before. I think most of North America shop/manufactuers are trustable compared with those in China.
