ISO 100 is ok, but depends on light. normally i set to Tv mode (Canon) use fast speed as possible.

Tripod is ok as well, I saw several people were use tripod, but personally I found IS or VR lens with high speed shutter is good enough for web usage even blow to 8x10".

Not a 大师, I was 老师 long time ago. ISO vs 拍鸟 no direct relationship, and also the high shutter speed is not always used for bird shooting. Even with a aviation bird, it does not get the best result by using a high shutter speed, for example, when shooting a flying hummingbird, the best shutter speed setting may be 1/250 - 1/500, we see the result can be: clear eyes (head) but blurr wings.

For me, after EV(a, v) use as low as ISO to reduce the noise. or simpe way is set to sport mode (I think: it is TV + ISO400 + AI serve + jpeg). I do not use the tripod when I can hold the lens. The IS or VR is very useful. I see, if you use a 400/2.8 or 500/4 or 600/4 the tripod is "must".
