Sometimes they are the same. For example: a bus driver working over 10 years vs. an assistant professor. Not to mention an assistant professor is an unstable job.

"肯定"? Obviously, he doesn't even know the words "class parent". It is less likely to happen in American families for parents to force their projection onto their kids. But it happens a lot!

To take an extreme case and make it universal applicable is shallow and misleading. Why can't we read insightful and entertaining article? Instead, we keep seeing this kind of one size fits all, one side view all the time.

There are obviously many culture differences, but human nature is the same. Based on dozen years living here in north america, I see many many more similarities than differences...

I remember in a TV interview with Michael Jackson, he said his father forced him into becoming pop star, even used abuse.

The average income of a bus driver in OCtranspo is around 60K per
year. A train driver is 100k. An assisitant professor in university
earns no more than 60k. Puls he/she has to satisfy the department
with publishings, otherwise, he/she get fired. That's why those young
profs are all hard working (at least 12 hours/day, 6 days/week).

that a prof dies at 40 or 50's. Considering you have to spend extra
10 years in school to be qualified for this position, you could be
highly experienced in any other field.

So if you still want to be a prof, nobody cares or admires you.
If I were the parent, my kid may definitely want to be a bus driver
to enjoy life. I offer my full support to them.

But in china, it is impossible. A prof has house offered by the
university, makes extra money from the projects. A lot of them
are millionaires. But a bus driver can only live a miserable life
and can be laid off at any monment. No paraent would allow their
children to be a bus driver if he has the talent to be a prof.

It's that simple.

That's pretty much a boring and dangerous job. One minor mistake can cause deaths to both the passengers and the driver himself.

And what else could they do once being retired or fired?

Driving for fun is fun. Driving for breads is NOT fun at all.

The same goes for the garbage collectors. It's ridiculous that someone being jealous for garbage collectors' salary.

That really shows how low some people can go.

How many chinese can be a bus driver if you don't have connection?
They are protected by their union!
Puls, in this country, you don't have any right to judge other
people's choice. So what I should do is non of your business.

Nobody saying they don't deserve the money. There is no judgement
in my comments. I never said it is unfair for a professor to be
paid less than a bus driver. It is you who bring this up first.
I just said here people has more choices and can get respected no
matter what they do for a living since they had a decent payment.

If you like something, go for it. If you don't like it, stay away from it.
Being jealous for other people's tea won't work. Whining won't change anything either.

What makes you think I am jealous? I can't see it from my comments.
I just said being a bus driver and a professor was equally good here.
I don't mean to be offensive. So take it easy.
