HELP! Water leaking under furnace

Hi Everyone,

There is some water leaking right under the furnace. My guess is that it might be caused by the thunder storm last night. Does anyone else have similar situation? I guess I have to call Direct Energy and suspect will face a hefty bill. If I sign up for the protection plan, will I be covered right away? Their term and condition says it takes 10 days to take effect after sign up. But in practice, do you really have to wait that long? I know for Bell phone service, when there is a broken line in the house, they'd recommend you sign up for a protection plan first instead of paying the guy a lumpsum.

Any kind of input will be appreciated.......

有可能是hot water tank漏水，一般就在furnace旁边。大部分的hot water tank都是租的，维修免费。如果用了十年以上出了毛病，你打电话他们会派人来换。

在工人来之前你可以把tank里的存水排掉，关掉上水龙头。

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately it's not the water tank. It's very obvious that it's from one see-through pipe coming out of the furnace.

从furnace里面出来的透明管子，是condensition drain（把炉子里凝结的水引到下水道的那根管子）吗？

这时节furnace不会动，怎的从那里流出水来？那根管子通炉子的排气管，是不是外面的雨水从排气管里进来了？若是，便不打紧，在外面的管子上接个弯头保护一下即可。

It's much better now, looks like the leaking has stopped.....
Where is the vent you were referring to? On the roof?

When it has a condensation drain, the furnace is a high efficiency one. If it was installed when the house was built, the vent should be a plastic pipe at the side of your house. If it was a replacement to the old mid/low efficiency or oil burning furnace, it might go through the old vent, which could be on the roof but, in either case, rain water should never come into your furnace if the vent was protected as it shoud be. I mean, there must be something missing.

It's a 8 year old single house, and I take from your reply it's gotta be a high efficient furnace too.

I will check the vent tonight and report back.

I got same problem as you did. When there is rain, water appears under the furnace. The probelm is the cracker on the wall near furnace. After Minito fixed the wall, no problem now.

Thanks for sharing. However mine problem is really the furnace leaking, and it is still leaking.........

I have to sign up for the plan then. Another hefty bill.

Looks like it's coming from the connection where the condensition drain pipe comes out. I will take some shots tonight and post them here.

i asked my friend ,he said the water leaking is from AC,the drain pipe may be blocked,the water is not going down.

The dripping is from the red and white buttoms.
