Don't be too excited. What I don't like: 3fps and 1/200s sync speed and 3.5% spot metering. Canon's way of giving a bit and taking back a bit is disgusting (similar story on 300d). Nikon on the other hand are much better in that aspect D70 vs. D100 e.g.

Also take a look of the landscape samples with 17-40L on Canon's web site and tell me what you think:

Those are the things I concerned in previous post when the rumor came out.

One more thing is how much bigger is the view finder compared with 20D,
I don't know how to calculate this, but my guess:

1.6X0.71=1.136
1X0.9=0.9
(Just guess, correct me if someone knows.)
So,26.2% bigger?

The price at US$3299 is not very preferable for me at least!
等等看DEAL的价格吧

Does anyone have any idea what is "soft touch" shutter release, compared with half press to focus and full down to release shutter?

nikon快要垮了 :lol:

上了FF,才知道17-40这么滥,畸变吓人啊

since some people have been complaining about the spot metering on 5D. I went to dpreview.com to check out the top line of Nikon camera - D2X. Here is what it reads: Spot Metering (4mm diameter circle, approx. 2% of entire frame). what makes one think the difference between 2% and 3.5% so unbearable? With Raw format, we have much more exposure tolerance than ever (+/-2). Please educate me why exactly the 2% is great and 3.5% is bad?

as for 3ftps. It is a full frame camera. please keep that in mind. It has a large sensor to scan and much more data to process. D2X's fast busting speed is achived by using a crop. That is an additional crop on top of an already 1.5x cropped sensor, a combined 2.x crop. So, you get 6MP in highspeed crop mode on a D2X. I have heard user of this camera rated this as most useless feature. Since it is nearly impossible to keep rapid moving object in the little crop frame. So that speed is more of a showoff figure on paper than a practical one. Besides, I do not see many sports photos on this sites other than mine (jumping horse). And I am using 350D, a slow camera! It works just great! I don't feel the need to splite 1 second into ten pieces.

The landscape one appears to be a bit soft. But It is straight out from the camera without post process. I accept it. the softness at corners are ok to me. Why? to answer this, I am going to ask a question too: why do people want to put their main object on the corners? besides, to get corners sharp, you need a bigger glass, much bigger. That will increase the weight of the lens. How much weight are people willing to carry for an ultra wide angle lens? And is it the fault of being a full frame? If it is so, we should have seen an avalanch type decline in using 35" film. And why there are still some medium format and large format cameras again?

Knowing the limit, and live with it is part of the real life.
