since some people have been complaining about the spot metering on 5D. I went to dpreview.com to check out the top line of Nikon camera - D2X. Here is what it reads: Spot Metering (4mm diameter circle, approx. 2% of entire frame). what makes one think the difference between 2% and 3.5% so unbearable? With Raw format, we have much more exposure tolerance than ever (+/-2). Please educate me why exactly the 2% is great and 3.5% is bad?
as for 3ftps. It is a full frame camera. please keep that in mind. It has a large sensor to scan and much more data to process. D2X's fast busting speed is achived by using a crop. That is an additional crop on top of an already 1.5x cropped sensor, a combined 2.x crop. So, you get 6MP in highspeed crop mode on a D2X. I have heard user of this camera rated this as most useless feature. Since it is nearly impossible to keep rapid moving object in the little crop frame. So that speed is more of a showoff figure on paper than a practical one. Besides, I do not see many sports photos on this sites other than mine (jumping horse). And I am using 350D, a slow camera! It works just great! I don't feel the need to splite 1 second into ten pieces.
The landscape one appears to be a bit soft. But It is straight out from the camera without post process. I accept it. the softness at corners are ok to me. Why? to answer this, I am going to ask a question too: why do people want to put their main object on the corners? besides, to get corners sharp, you need a bigger glass, much bigger. That will increase the weight of the lens. How much weight are people willing to carry for an ultra wide angle lens? And is it the fault of being a full frame? If it is so, we should have seen an avalanch type decline in using 35" film. And why there are still some medium format and large format cameras again?
Knowing the limit, and live with it is part of the real life.

Xterra: just for your info., from metering perspective, D2x is not the best in Nikon's offering. D70 has 1% spot meter. As to why 1% is so important in landscape, I will leave this to other expert such as startrack.
3fps is probably more than sufficient for amatures like us but definitely not for professinal sports shooter -- you do agree that the camera targetted at pros ?
As to your argument about soft corner in landscape is ok, I strongly disagree. Landscape photo is not about one "main object", it about the whole picture. Sure you may need a focal point but you also need surrounding subjects.
And better WA does not necessarily mean bigger and heavier just look at some of the CZ/Leica offering. And comparing to my 100-400L, I don't care it get a bit heavier.

I believe the next one is the high speed, full frame one replacing 1D series.
At the lower end, I don't think full frame will be possible soon. Cause the cost
of full frame is just impossible under 1000USD.
See the area of 10D/20D/350D is less than half of full frame. I believe the material
cost of full frame sensor is more than doubled than 1.6X sensors.
Anyway, leave it to Canon.
Under 3000USD to 2500USD, 5D will be on most of us' shopping list, I believe. I'll wait
to see more of the reviews and customer reviews.

To be perfect honest, I have been very patient on this discussion. All I can suggest here is to take a look at those amazing photos at dpchallenge.com and other sites, which are taken with 300, 350, 10, 20Ds, even those who uses point and shot cameras! And compare those to your own.
As for Leica/CZ, it has become a mystery. And I found only some Chinese amatures were keen to it. Believing and telling others Leica/CZ are perfect is rather a misleading. Bad to everyone. not only yourself, but also other novices. May you stop, please?! If you want to buy them, go right ahead. not one will pull your legs. and please stop misleading others.
Let me make my point clear: live with your gear, make the most out of it. enjoy the creativity part of photography, not complaining!
