RE: Don't take it too seriously, pals

<HTML>Many friends I know have left or are leaving for US. Canada
is a country for rich people to enjoy life, and US is
a country for poor people to make rich.

If you are rich enough, Vancouver would be the best place to stay.
If you are poor but young, US would be your final dream destination.
If you are poor and old, Ottawa and Toronto would be your must choice
to make living. </HTML>

to klin

<HTML>Klin,

I don't want to argue with you. I guess both of us want to give our audience ( probably a wrong word, don't laugh at my English) a picture of Ottawa as real as possible. That's the only reason why I add reply post to your original post. I hope my input is closer to the fact. If not, I welcome anybody to put your input.

BTW: I don't what you mean "compare the avarage", </HTML>

RE: to klin

<HTML>The average here means average salary. Imagine a small city with population less than 1M, most of them are hi-tech workers and civil servants, the average salary could be very high. It's true a lot US cities pay their hi-tech workers much more than Ottawa, but you should also take those poor people into account.

Anyway, I don't like Ottawa the best either, but for people like us, it's really a good place to start our new life in North America. Good luck to all.</HTML>

RE:

<HTML>You call 25 cm a snow storm? You have not seen snow yet. I've experienced 1.2 meter in 24 hours. Now, that's called snow!</HTML>

You can do a research on homefair.com

<HTML>To compare cities between Ottawa and other US cities. It is very fair rule. The salary level in Ottawa can be only compare with Los Angeles(with less high-tech opportunities, counting the currency rate). However, the house price is only half of the LA. The media house hold income is only less than $40K US$, compare with $80K in Silicon Valley. Counting the living quality, the Ottawa is better than LA, maybe better than Silicon Valley for a normal non-IT worker.</HTML>

RE: You can do a research on homefair.com

<HTML>If you had ever been to LA, you would not have said that. LA is a city much more prosperous and famous. Many chinese stay there for It has warm weather and lots of convenience like several free Chinese tv channels. Beverly hill is the homes of most famous stars like Jackie Chan.

Not everybody likes to live there, but everybody must
like to visit there. Just like you may not like to live in Beijing or Shanghai, but you must like to visit there.
</HTML>

You will find what LA is after you lived there

<HTML>I have stayed LA for years. Actually it is the worst city I ever saw. The average salary is low. A lot of Koreans and Mexican full of street. Yes, people from everywhere, but as I know, many people are racists. Chinese live together in a small city called Montery Park and Taiwanese look down upon Chinese. When you use credit card, the store owner will always check your ID. Although a lot of Chinese live in LA, you may wonder why there is no Chinese at all when you are in Beverly Hills. I traveled a couple of cities in US, as I see, the best place for Chinese is still Silicon Valley. Nice place and people are kind. New Jersy is also a good place. Los Angeles, with its more than 10million people, a worse place.
Donnot think every place in US is better. </HTML>

RE: You will find what LA is after you lived there

<HTML>L.A.is the most polluted city in the North America. Maybe that should
also count for its famous. </HTML>

RE: You will find what LA is after you lived there

<HTML>I'll say jane has a fair point. you have to be here to know.Ottawa isn't a bad place to start with at all, the nice summer may get even of the bitter cold winter.</HTML>

RE: You will find what LA is after you lived there

<HTML>Anyone who knows the work opptunities for not-IT-people?
I have been working as a research assistant in aerospace engineering, what would be the job chance in Ottawa? Thank a lot!!! </HTML>

“I want to immigrate Canada not for the car, the rome and money, I think I can get those several years late in Beijing. What I like is the fair and peace condition for living and working, good politics system, secure society, generous people, multi-culture, good education, and beautiful, no-polluted environment. All these will benefit not only me but also my family and offspring.”</HTML>
