Need help on a parking ticket

Hi,

A friend of mine get a parking ticket from another city in Ontario. But he has never been to that city. So either the official wrote down a wrong plate number or someone was using a fake plate, which happens to be the same as his.

So what can he do to solve this? The fine is not big so it's not worth to go to the court in that city just for this matter. But problem here is if someone uses a fake plate with the same number as his. There could be more troubles coming.

It will be appreciated if someone out there who has similar experience or heard of this could give their suggestions. Thanks.

I guess maybe he should choose to pay the fine and then go to minister of transport to change the plate.

On the ticket, the officer should also mark the make and color of the car, I guess. If so, these must be different from his own car. Check it out. If this is true, make a photo copy of the ownership paper and send it back to that address stating the problem.

He might also want to go to the MTO to notify them of the problem.

No, the letter from city of waterloo only shows the plate number, but don't have the make and color. Maybe he can call city of waterloo to find out more info. Thanks.
