For a car thats $5000 to $6000, over 1999-2000 is going to be a little hard to find. You are basically looking at an american made car. Something in the dodge neon, potiaic, fords and such.

Actually there is one car thats very good on gas, suits your price range that I have driven. I don't know if you are a fan of the HYUNDAI ACCENT. It is a nice little car, sits 4(5 if the people in the back is smaller). Quite good on gas, slightly better than the honda civic because it has smaller engine size and lighter. For the price range u wanted, u can get from 2000-2003, but all over 100000km. The engine is actually nice because I have known people abusing the engine and still fine with it, with daily driving you should be looking at 200000km plus with the engine.

But be sure to get a dealers warranty, I always tell people this, because I'm not trying to trick you, there is always someone who will. Some dealers are good offering a 1 year free warantty, so try to get that. Other than that, check everything, car records(you have the right by law to see the car's record), look at the safety test sheet and make sure everything is done to it to pass all tests.

If you are willing to get a lower year, 1996-2000 Honda Civic is nice, hatchbacks are slightly cheaper, but don't have all the options as the Hyundai Accent(also comes with a 4 door option).

The Mazda 3, very nice reliable car, inside is about the same size and comfort of the newer honda civics. mazda has made a name for producing great engines over the years, and the mazda 3 base engine and sports engine is both very tough. The are now made in north america, i forgot which city, but their techonolgy is all imported directly from japan and has a very good safety rating. Overall the car is really nice to drive, I have driven the sports modle. Handling on this car feels really nice, lots of holds on the ground with its tires, suspension is a little stiffer but that gives u grea control turning. Seats are comfortable, the dash panel lay out is really nice, orange lighting inside, it offeres automatic/tiptronic and 5 speed, and other nice options. Sometime during the summer they offer 0% finicing. Its a great car for a single and small family, very good daily driving. Racing not recommed in this car, it can be done, just not worth it.

How are about Pontiac Vibe??

Its actually a very nice SUV that most asians don't even look at because its a potiac. The heart of a car is its engine of course, and the engine is made by Toyota, and they use it in their cars too, so the engines is very very reliable. The engine gets both performance and fuel economy, the base model is 130hp while the higher one is 170hp, and I belive its used in toyota's corrola.

The car is very cheap at the dealership, the reason for that is, it has lots of option packages, so, if u want ABS, power everything, sunroof, airbags and other things, it will begin to look like alot of money for a potinaic, but you are also looking at a toyota's reliability inside a nicely designed SUV not made by toyota(cost less on insurace than the RAV4 by toyota).

I have not driven this car but have ride in it, it was actually quite big inside than expected. hope this helps.

The used car deals here may offer sth like Cavalier, Malibu, Sunfire, Elantra, Accent, etc. Don't like the style of the sunfire and the size of accent (too small). I have tried elantra, cavalier, malibu. Honestly don't feel much difference as I have zero driving experience (just got the G2). But malibu is definitely spacious.

So what's you opinion on them? I hvae read on many websites that recommend the elantra but no many people around me have experience. What do you think? Does it deserve the "recommendation"?

Btw, one malibu I test have a nice price, but a corner of the 右边后轮挡泥板broke and was clued on. Is this a big problem?

Hi, the Cavalier and Sunfire I would never recommmend it to anyone, becuase I have seen too many people going back to a shop and trying to fix it. Malibu has been around for a long time, alotho its an american made car, it actually runs really well, and yes, its very big inside. Its a good car to buy, very comfortable, just not great on gas, so if you are short on money, should rethink about it. elantra has a nice engine, not as big inside as the malibu but its good for a family of 5 to sit in there without any problems. Its actually a really nice car, those 2 I have both driven, malibu is comfortable, but due to its size and weight, i liked the elantra much better, but both are very good cars.

Now there are alot of people saying online, that the elantra engine is going to be in the 2008 version of the new Tiburon, which has been released in China last month. For them to put that engine in the Tiburon is just telling people one thing, that is, the engine is great. Because the tiburon has hit the north american market big, and theres no way hyunida is going to do anything bad to it.

The mad flip u metioned, those can be removed if u wanted. or when you buy the car, tell the dealer u want the mud flip replaced, most of them would do it to make the sale. But really it dosent really do much, it keeps the mud on getting into the back of ur bumper, but at the car wash it usally gets swashed down so no problems there. I took mine off my car because I'm getting a bodykit, and all cars with body kits dont have mud flips.

Ford Focus USED TO have 2 engines, not anymore. Right now they all have the 2.0L 136hp engine in all of their line ups.

Now if you are looking so the other engine, which is actually a performance engine, build to take in lots of pressure(well not lots, just some) because it was intended for the street circuit and it is used in Ford's Rally Car Championship. How many hp it has I forgot, it is a V6.

If you are looking to buy a new focus, the engine is ok, not great, but not bad either. I actually drove both cars, the base model is nice, lots of power to accelerate, nice even spacing inside, this is the 4 door seden. Now the performance ZX3, it is very quick, the one I drove already had an supercharger inside so I dont know how fast the stock engine is. But both cars are very good.

they are not gas savers, the base model is ok, but dosen't save that much gas at all. And if u are looking for a used performance one, make sure there are warrantys on the car, other wise u be looking at a engine thats already been abused.
