It is not so simple as a couple tickets. It is criminal in Canada to drive without valid licence. For a G1 beginner, you must have a person sitting in the vehicle togther with you. This person must have full 4-year G license. Because this person is responsible for any accident when teaching you, I doubt you are easy to find a person doing it for you. The best way is to take driving school.
G1 people could own a vehicle, but no insurance company will insur a G1 person. Since insurance is mandatory in Canada, you basically can't drive independently before you get G2.
G1 driver may have a car and may get insurance from some companies such as CIBC with a condition: a 4-year full licensed driver agreed to sit on the passenger side when you driving. Of course, if you buy this kind of insurance, you and the 4-year full licensed driver are involved. I bought that for couple of months from CIBC in 1999. I do not know if it is available now.
It is winter time, for new drivers, it is better to not drive in winter. It is very crazzy when you driving on snow, ice. Wait for the spring.
Each police vehicle is equiped with wireless terminal which can check this kind of information online immediately. Don't assume police is fool. A lie would give you more trouble.
